INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Cortburg Speaks Retirement

An audio podcast about investing in the stock market, financial planning, money management and retirement planning.  Each Wednesday, we help investors at all stages of life learn how to potentially grow and preserve their money from first job through retirement.

Now here is your host, Miguel Gonzalez.

HOST

Happy New Year and welcome to the CORTBURG SPEAKS RETIREMENT audio podcast.

As we recap and look back at 2020, I am proud of the research and information we have delivered to our clients, friends and strategic partners.  The launch of our video blog in April 2020, our Tuesday morning blog, monthly ebooks, monthly educational events and quarterly magazine were positively received.

The one area we feel we can do better for you in 2021 is our Wednesday morning audio podcast.  While our video blog gets over 100 view per episode, we are only seeing 5-10 downloads per audio podcast episode.

As a result, we hired a professional consultant to evaluate our Cortburg Speaks Retirement audio podcast.  I am going to share these ideas with you and our listeners (all 10 of you but hopefully more soon), will see the changes on next week’s episode.

The first change in our audio podcast will be to reduce the number of segments in each episode.  Currently we have 6 segments – starting with financial options and ending with our quote of the week.  My area of experience is financial and retirement planning, so focusing on topics that help investors retire and manage their money should be most important.

There are plenty of great podcasts on healthy lifestyle and green living ideas, so you don’t need me nor am I qualified to provide that kinds of lifestyle advice.  The reality is that recording those segments didn’t feel natural to me and therefore come across as very scripted to our listeners.  Listeners of podcast don’t want scripts, they want education and entertainment.

The second change in our weekly audio podcast is to remove the background music while the presenter is speaking.  While music at the beginning and end of the audio podcast is good practice and helps the listener distinguishes between the intro and outro, music during the audio sounds disruptive.

The third and last change to our podcast is to reduce the minutes of our weekly audio but provide more details, tools and actionable items so you can get the most information out of every topic covered.  In a sense, we are going from quantity to quality.

Thank you to my clients and friends for your feedback on our Cortburg Speaks Retirement audio podcast.  My goal is to create a complimentary resource to you and share the 20+ years of retirement planning experience I have.
