Welcome to Cortburg Speaks Retirement

Now here is your host, Miguel Gonzalez.

Good morning and welcome to the CORTBURG SPEAKS RETIREMENT audio podcast.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I want to talk about how gratitude and family traditions can teach us practical lessons about money. Just like a Thanksgiving meal, managing finances takes planning, preparation, and sometimes a little creativity.

No one throws together Thanksgiving dinner at the last minute. You plan, shop, and prepare. Finances work the same way—planning ahead reduces stress and helps you stay on track.

Thanksgiving also reminds us to be grateful. Celebrate financial wins, no matter how small, because gratitude fuels motivation to keep going.

The holiday is about sharing, too. Giving—whether to charity, to loved ones, or through your time—shows us that wealth is about more than accumulation. It’s about making an impact.

Of course, just like at the dinner table, it’s easy to overindulge. The same goes for spending. Setting limits helps you enjoy the season without regret later.

And finally, remember the big picture. A Thanksgiving meal is memorable because of how all the dishes come together. Likewise, your financial health is built from many small decisions working together.

So this Thanksgiving, connect gratitude with your finances. Plan, appreciate, share, and keep perspective. These lessons can guide you all year long.
