Now here is your host, Miguel Gonzalez.

Good morning and welcome to the CORTBURG SPEAKS RETIREMENT audio podcast.

This week, as we head into the holidays, I want to take a break from numbers, budgets, and markets—and talk about something more meaningful: the gift of financial peace.

The holidays are a time when many of us reflect on what really matters—family, health, connection, and gratitude. But they can also be a time when stress creeps in—especially around money. Whether it’s travel costs, gift lists, or year-end expenses, it’s easy to feel pulled in every direction.

So let’s take a step back and talk about how to give yourself one of the best gifts there is—peace of mind about your finances.

1. Let Go of Perfection

The holidays can create a lot of pressure—to give the perfect gift, host the perfect meal, or have the perfect plan for the year ahead. But peace doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from presence.
Remind yourself that the people who care about you value time with you far more than what’s under the tree.

2. Focus on What You Can Control

You can’t control market movements or every financial surprise, but you can control your attitude, your spending decisions, and how prepared you are.
Maybe that means keeping your holiday budget simple this year or reviewing your goals with a calm, future-focused mindset. The goal isn’t to have everything figured out—it’s to feel steady where you stand.

3. Celebrate Your Progress

Before the year ends, take a moment to recognize how far you’ve come.
Maybe you paid off a loan, increased your savings, or simply became more aware of your spending habits. That’s progress. Financial peace comes from knowing you’re moving in the right direction—even if you’re not there yet.

4. Give Yourself Permission to Rest

The holiday season is also a reminder that rest is productive. Taking time to recharge mentally and emotionally can help you return to your goals with clarity and motivation in the new year.

In Closing

This season, try giving yourself the gift of financial peace—a calm, confident sense that you’re doing your best, and that your goals are aligned with what truly matters.
Because the best financial plan isn’t just about dollars—it’s about building a life that feels balanced, meaningful, and secure.
